Did you Know...?

You can export to Excel*, make changes to your data, and then re-import the information into Trackvia and your database records will be updated with the changes you've made. This is a great way to "take it offline" to update your records during a flight, for example.
*note: Be sure to include the Record Locator numbers in your export.

Hello Customer,

Autumn is here, and the leaves are changing. Trackvia has some exciting changes as well, and we hope you'll enjoy this newsletter as a way of bringing you up to date with the latest Trackvia news. We have some great new features that are already available in your Trackvia account, and which you may or may not have already discovered.

Thanks again for being a Trackvia customer. As always, we welcome your feedback and questions - it's how we built a better product for you!

Sincerely,

Matt Strenz

Recently Added Features

Formulas

Our new "calculated number" field type allows you to perform mathematical operations across fields in your database. For example, a non-profit that tracks donations can have a Year-to-Date field that sums each donor's monthly contributions. It's yet another way that Trackvia is better than Excel at helping you manage your information.

Interactive Maps

Do you have "map-able" contacts in your database? Trackvia's Map view places red pinpoints on an appropriately scaled map. And, Trackvia takes it one step further, allowing you to mouse-over the pinpoints and view the record detail for each individual pinpoint, including image preview. Just double-click the pinpoint to edit the record.

Display a Report on your Website

Your Trackvia database is full of great information - some of which you might like to share with visitors to your organization's website. With our new Display a View feature you are able to do just that. And this isn't a static view that is frozen in time. It's a real-time database view that displays the latest information that's been entered in your database

Upcoming Features

Calculated Dates

The ability to have a date field that's calculated based on another date field is a popular request. For example, in a database of assets that need scheduled maintenance, you may want to have a field that automatically adds 30 days to the most recent maintenance date. This is one of several enhancements we'll be adding to our new Calculated Number field type.

Relationship Between Databases

If you use Trackvia to manage your sales leads, you may want to be able to link records across databases. For example, you may find that you have several individual leads at one company, and you'd like to be able to have a database of companies, a separate database of individual leads, and to link each lead to its parent company. This is called a one-to-many relationship, and this is one of our upcoming features. We expect that this feature will be available before the end of the year.

View a Record in a Website Report

Currently Trackvia allows you to display a real-time view of one or more database reports on your website. However, this feature doesn't allow your website visitors to click an individual record in the report to see details. With our upcoming enhancement, your visitors will be able to view details for a specific record. For example, a realtor who lists properties can display a report that shows an overview of the properties listed, and that displays additional fields when an individual record is clicked

Trackvia in the News

"Online database excellence," Network World Magazine

Hosted, Web-enabled databases are, if anything, a hotter topic than ever. The ability for anyone to construct a reasonably complex database complete with customized forms and reports when few if any database skills creates a whole new world of business opportunities. Since this market started to take shape there has been a flood of contenders, some weak, some very good. Today's newsletter focus, Trackvia, is in the excellent category."

"Sharing Spreadsheets," David Strom, Founder of Network Computing Magazine

While there are some really good Internet-facing database programs, none of these are as easy to setup and manipulate as Trackvia.com, a service that has been out for the past year but recently gotten some much-needed improvements...The company has been around for over a year and has some pretty impressive customers, including people that have built some very large databases.
