| Timmy |  | Timmy was already an older boy when he found his forever home, and he enjoyed several more years first with MNSR Sheltie Callie, and then with MNSR Sheltie Shelley. He enjoyed going for trips in the RV with his family and meeting people. Recently, Timmy’s health began to decline and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on August 12th 2010. He is dearly missed. |
| Laddie3 |  | Laddie was only in rescue a short time before succumbing to significant health issues. He was a gentle giant, and we hope he knew that he was loved by rescue volunteers when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 26th, 2010. |
| Belle2 |  | Belle had many years in a wonderful home, who adopted her when she was already a senior. She is very missed by her mom, and we are very grateful for wonderful people like her who love and care for the senior shelties like Belle. Belle crossed the Rainbow Bridge June 12th, 2010. |
| Murphy |  | Blind and deaf, Murphy was found wandering alone by some good people who helped Murphy find his way to Minnesota Sheltie Rescue. He settled in quickly with his foster family, who loved him unconditionally and provided him with a comfy bed, plenty of affection, and a sense of home. Murphy cheerfully wagged his tail whenever his family was nearby, and let out a woof from time to time. Recently his health issues began to affect his quality of life, and in the arms of his loving mom, he peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 1st, 2010. |
| Rosie |  | Rosie enjoyed many wonderful years with her MNSR Sheltie pal, Vinnie, after they found a loving adoptive family together in 2004. Her devoted family took her for hydro-therapy weekly to ease her arthritis, and she even beat cancer. Rosie recently became ill and it was discovered that she had kidney failure. Rosie crossed the Rainbow Bridge May 22nd, 2010 in the loving arms of her family who love and miss her so much. |
| Carly |  | Carly came into my life on Christmas Eve Day, 2005. She was a sweet, loving, well-behaved girl who adored children. Carly settled into my home and my heart immediately upon arrival, as though we were destined to be together. She loved playing ball, fetching her teddy bear and llama friends, barking ferociously at bicycles and other suspicious objects on wheels, and overseeing all activity. Her favorite pastime was to sit on the front terrace, guarding the neighborhood and hoping for a visit from a neighbor. She had a gourmet’s appreciation for food, and she finally trained her guardian how to properly provide for her sustenance. Her favorite dishes were vegetable curry, spinach rice casserole and lasagna. She loved to eat snow, and her favorite treat was an ice cube.
Carly had more than her share of physical problems, including severe arthritis. In the past year her condition worsened and she needed help navigating steps and getting up after a nap. Despite her challenges she was always ready for a walk and to pull her llama out for a toss. Her spirit and heart were fully engaged until the moment her heart stopped. Making the decision to release Carly to the arms of the universe was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I miss her quiet, faithful presence; she was the best dog I have ever had the privilege of loving. I truly hope that she is finally able to catch up to the dogs and squirrels she’s been chasing in her dreams and that she is at last free from all pain and limitations. Carly crossed the Rainbow Bridge May 5th, 2010.

| Mitzi |  | Beautiful Mitzi was adored by her family, who gave her all the love she could want and provided her with wonderful care, nursing her through several age-related health issues. On April 10th, 2010, Mitzi crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Her smile will be dearly missed. |
| Stella2 |  | Stella had a wonderful life with a family who was very committed to providing her with everything she needed in life, especially good food, which was so important to Stella. After living with an auto-immune condition for several years, Stella began to develop seizures that became more severe and rapid in succession, and her family released her to the Rainbow Bridge on March 25th, 2010. She is dearly missed by her human family, and her canine "sister" Rue. |
| Peanut |  | Peanut lived a wonderful life with a special person who has taken in several Shelties and rescue dogs. Peanut made sure there was always a spot for him on the bed, and was happy and content. He peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge in his sleep in the winter of ’09/10 and is greatly missed by his human and canine family. |
| Molly |  | All Shelties are special, but Molly was especially so. When our little Sheltie man went to the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly, we adopted Molly and Prancer. Molly maybe wasn’t the most beautiful Sheltie, but her huge brown Sheltie eyes and her personality overcame her looks! In her short time with us, she and Prancer represented MNSR at several events to show the special rewards that senior dogs bring. She was such a good ambassador! People always commented on her wonderful laid-back, friendly attitude. No matter how many hands reached out to touch, she never snarled or growled, but would lean into the hands as though they were old friends. Especially if those hands held a treat or two! As Molly’s chosen human, wherever I would be, she would be right with me, for company or supervision. When I was upset, she would put her head on my lap and snuggle close. And when I laughed at something she had done, she would get a glint in her eye and laugh right along with me.
Molly had been doing well, but had a chronic cough since coming into rescue as a stray, which seemed to be getting worse the last few days. She had a bath (she especially liked having Mom massage shampoo into her fur as warm water washed over her), and spent all day with Mom and Dad, getting treats and love. We were going to take her to the vet again the next day, but on December 27th, 2009, our Mistress Molly simply stopped breathing while she was sleeping. When I found her, although I can’t be sure since I was looking at her through the tears in my eyes, I could swear there was a smile on her face. And, through the tears, there will be a smile on my face whenever I think of my sweet Molly.

| Dixie |  | I had to say goodbye to one of our Top Dog Sanctuary dogs, Dixie. She came to me last March after her owner landed in the hospital, and relatives contacted Minnesota Sheltie Rescue for help. Dixie had a mass on her heart that was pressing on her esophagus, causing labored breathing and her heart to race. The vet felt that with care and medication there was still potential for quality of life. Due to her age and health condition, Sheltie Rescue asked if she could be cared for under The Bentley Grant Program. At the time the tumor appeared to be growing very rapidly and we thought she had only weeks. She amazingly came to life. She lost 8 lbs and was very active and happy.
The tumor finally grew to the point where she could not catch her breath. She was sent to doggy heaven December 1st, 2009, and true to our mission at Top Dog Foundation, she died in my arms...the arms of someone who loved her. | Mikey |  | Mikey was much loved by his forever family and the Maltese pal in his home. He had a wonderful life with them, romping in his fenced yard, and he brought joy to the hearts of those who knew him. Mikey crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 10/24/09 due to seizures. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. |
| Chester |  | Chester came into rescue with epilepsy and Lyme disease, and unfortunately developed cancer as well, which was just too much for his little body to handle. Chester had the most wonderful, loving forever home, and is so dearly missed by his mom, and his Sheltie and feline "siblings". We know that he is snuggled on his foster dad’s lap on the Other Side. Chester crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 16th, 2009. |
| Teddy |  | Teddy’s family helped him to become a trusting, more confident dog and his true personality was able to shine through in their loving care. From Teddy’s Forever Family: We will miss Teddy so much…he always followed me wherever I went, waited for me to drop something when I was cooking, laid next to me on the sofa or on the floor next to the bed, under my computer desk, walked the yard with me and we’d water flowers together or pick up doggie cookies from the yard. He was a Mommy’s boy! He was such a gentleman and had such a peaceful, loving soul! He was definitely one of a kind! Teddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 15th, 2009 |
| Lance |  | Lance was the most happy-go-lucky Sheltie boy and he loved every person he met. Though his time with them was all too short, he was adored by his adoptive family and he was devoted to them. Lance was a wonderful "big brother" to MNSR Sheltie Jasmine, too. He is now happily barking at the Rainbow Bridge. Lance crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 5th, 2009. |
| Buddy |  | Buddy came to rescue in 2003 with a "guarded" cancer prognosis. Given that, his foster moms decided he was home and adopted him. He spent six happy years, living longer and better than anyone could have imagined, proving that miracles do happen, sometimes disguised in sheltie fur. Buddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 3rd, 2009. |
| Rocky |  | Rocky had a tough life prior to rescue and it took a toll on his health, but he kept his happy, cheerful demeanor throughout. He was lucky and thrilled to have found a very dedicated adoptive mom who will miss him dearly. Rocky brought a smile to all who met him. Rocky crossed the Rainbow Bridge August 31st, 2009. |
| LaceyBlue |  | Lacey Blue found a very loving forever family, together with Sheltie pal, Robby. Sadly, she managed to slip out the gate one morning as Shelties will do, and she was fatally struck by a car. Our thoughts are with Lacey Blue’s forever family who loved her so dearly and her foster families who first helped her feel safe. Lacey Blue crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 27th, 2009. |
| Cassie |  | Cassie joined her forever family at the age of 10 years, and they had five wonderful years together until the time came that they had to say goodbye. Cassie was spunky well into her senior years, still sending the cats on the run from time to time. She was dearly loved by her family, and will be dearly missed. Cassie crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 14th, 2009. |
| Mindy |  | Mork and Mindy were saved from euthanasia at a shelter from another state. Being the more outgoing, Mork found his new home fairly quickly. Mindy, being more shy & fearful, took longer, but she thrived during her time with two wonderful foster homes. Sadly, shortly after finding a wonderful family to be her forever home, in true sheltie fashion she panicked and slipped her collar. In spite of a major search effort by MNSR and hew new family, Mindy was not found until she was fatally hit by a car approximately 36 hours after. Our thoughts are with Mindy’s foster families, her new home and all the volunteers who worked for her safe return. Mindy crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 11th, 2009. |
